Wildfires
The wildfire situation is active in parts of Canada and the US. In Canada, the most significant wildfires are in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, more than 1,000 km / 620 miles away from our train destinations. The safety of our guests and crew is our top priority and we continue to monitor the wildfire situation closely to evaluate any potential impact.
All Rocky Mountaineer rail routes and departures are currently operating as scheduled. If there is a change to your journey, our team will reach out to you directly.
Air quality
- Please be aware that in some regions where we operate, there may be reduced visibility of scenery and outdoor air quality due to smoke from wildfires. Air quality changes frequently due to wildfire and weather conditions, among other factors.
- In areas where the air quality is affected, the health authorities recommend you reduce your exposure by staying indoors where there is air conditioning and avoid strenuous or prolonged activities outside, especially if you have underlying medical conditions. The train, the motorcoaches to and from your hotel, and most hotel rooms and restaurants will have air conditioning.
- The latest air quality information for Canadian cities can be found on the Government of Canada website. Calgary is the city listed that is closest to Banff and Lake Louise. Prince George is the city listed that is closest to Quesnel, on our Rainforest to Gold Rush route.
