Rocky Mountaineer celebrates first train departure from Denver Union Station
DENVER, Colorado – Armstrong Collective will bring Rocky Mountaineer trains to Denver Union Station for the first time, as the result of a brand-new partnership to kick-off the 2025 operating season. This exciting development will benefit businesses in the LoDo district as guests shop, dine, and tour before and after their train journey.
In true Rocky Mountaineer fashion, this news will be celebrated at the annual inaugural departure wave-off event at the station, where team members and partners will wave as the first departing train leaves the station on April 9.
Denver Union Station is an iconic historical landmark and transportation hub located in the heart of the mile high city. In addition to providing a direct connection to Denver International Airport, guests will be within walking distance of Rocky Mountaineer’s local hotel partners, and can experience LoDo’s bustling streets, trendy shopping, and excellent dining scene.
Rocky Mountaineer is a luxury daylight train experience that launched its first standalone route in the United States in 2021: the two-day Rockies to Red Rocks train journey travels from Denver, with an overnight stop in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, before culminating in Moab, Utah. On this route, guests will journey through extraordinary landscapes, witnessing awe-inspiring mountains, vast canyons, and red rock deserts through its glass-dome coaches.
The train’s new home in Denver Union Station marks a significant improvement in the guest experience, as passengers previously needed to board the train from a rail siding outside the downtown core, requiring a separate motorcoach transport.
This year’s operating season will run from April 9 to November 19, with two round-trip departures scheduled per week during peak operations. The train is scheduled to depart at 9:00 am and arrive at 5:00 pm on Track 5.
It has been a milestone week for Rocky Mountaineer, with this week’s earlier announcement that the Rockies to Red Rocks route will expand to include Salt Lake City, Utah and will transition under the new Canyon Spirit brand for the 2026 operating season.
