Relax in Iconic Mineral Pools & Vapor Caves

Glenwood Springs is world-famous for its natural hot springs, offering the perfect blend of relaxation and rejuvenation amid stunning mountain scenery.   •  A short walk across the pedestrian bridge from the Glenwood Springs Train Station or just across the street from Hotel Colorado, brings you to Glenwood Hot Springs Resort, home to the world’s largest hot springs pool spanning over two city blocks in length.
  • Further outside of town, terraced along the banks of the Colorado River is Iron Mountain Hot Springs, fed by several natural hot springs and featuring 28 different pools to soak in. Choose from their Select Access or Premier Access (21+) section to tailor your relaxation.
  • Down the road from the Glenwood Hot Springs Resort, you will find the Yampah Spa & Hot Spring Vapor Caves, natural underground hot mineral water steam baths. Hot mineral water flows through the cave floors at 51° Celsius/125° Fahrenheit, creating natural geothermal steam warming each cave to an average of 43 - 45° Celsius/110 – 113° Fahrenheit.

  • For a more upscale evening out, The Riviera Supper Club & Scratch Kitchen serves creative takes on classic dishes, along with an award-winning wine list and quirky ambiance. Known for its rotating menu and use of local ingredients, it’s a favourite among both visitors and locals.
  • Step into the past at the Hotel Colorado Restaurant & Bar, where you can dine in one of Glenwood’s most iconic buildings. Enjoy Colorado-inspired cuisine with views of the courtyard or the cozy glow of the fireplace, all within a setting that has hosted presidents and legends.

  • Inside Bullocks Western Store on Grand Ave, the Doc Holliday Collection showcases memorabilia and artifacts dedicated to the legendary gunslinger who spent his final days in Glenwood Springs. It’s a fascinating exhibit that adds real-life context to one of the West’s most iconic figures. The location of the collection is also significant as in 1887, Doc Holliday passed away at the Hotel Glenwood which once rose out of this very spot.
  • For those wanting to walk in Doc’s footsteps, the Doc Holliday Trail leads up to Linwood Cemetery, where a memorial honors his life and legend. The short but moderately steep hike offers panoramic views of the town below and a quiet, reflective setting to connect with Glenwood’s past.
  • To dive even deeper, visit the Glenwood Springs Historical Society & Frontier Museum. Housed in a charming 1905 home, the museum features exhibits on early settlers, railroads, mining, and more.   • Hugging the banks of the Colorado River, the Glenwood Canyon Recreation Path stretches for 25.7 kilometers/16 miles through one of Colorado’s most scenic canyons. The trail provides easy access to Glenwood Canyon and the Colorado River, making it an ideal activity for all ages and abilities. Whether you walk, run, or ride, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of the cliffs and river, with plenty of places to stop and take it all in.
  • The Atkinson Canal Trail is a flat, paved route ideal for families or a peaceful solo stroll. Running along the Roaring Fork River, this trail offers wide open views, easy access from town, and a tranquil setting to enjoy the surrounding nature.
  • For those wanting a longer outing, the Rio Grande Trail connects Glenwood Springs to Aspen along a converted rail line. You can hop on a short stretch for a quick walk or plan a longer ride—either way, you’ll enjoy a gentle grade, and gorgeous valley views all the way.

  • For a high-flying mix of family fun and thrilling rides, Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is a must-visit. America’s only mountaintop theme park, perched 2,164 meters (7,100 feet) above sea level, the park combines classic amusements with cave tours, alpine coasters, and panoramic views.
  • Cool off and embark on an adventure with a rafting or kayaking trip on the Colorado River. From gentle floats to splashy rapids, the local guides offer a range of rafting experiences. Getting Around Glenwood Springs

While many restaurants, shops, and hotels are located within walking distance of each other, some activities and trails may be further outside of town and require transportation to get to. Glenwood Springs City has launched a new on-demand ride-sharing service called Ride Glenwood On-Demand. You can now request a point-to-point ride anywhere within Glenwood city limits during operating hours. Their van has capacity for multiple passengers and can accommodate a wheelchair. You can also choose to navigate the city by Glenwood Springs’ free bus service through town, or by taxi

Rocky Mountaineer Glenwood Springs Journeys

Ready to visit Glenwood Springs? This season, we are thrilled to introduce two new Rockies to the Red Rocks packages that offer guests extra time in this charming town. These round-trip journeys offer time onboard Rocky Mountaineer between Denver and Glenwood Springs, with nights to explore and relax in Glenwood Springs at leisure. Departures begin in June 2025.

Guests can also visit this destination as our overnight midpoint stop on every Rockies to the Red Rocks package.
