Immerse Yourself in the Canadian Rockies

For a limited time in summer 2026, journey through the heart of the Canadian Rockies and explore up to three incredible destinations on our newest route, Passage to the Peaks

This seasonal rail route takes you exclusively through the breathtaking highlights of the Canadian Rockies and is our only route that doesn’t travel to Vancouver and the West Coast. Beginning and ending in the iconic mountain towns of Banff and Jasper (with some packages including overnight stays in Lake Louise), this journey is for those who want to immerse themselves in the evergreen forests, sparkling glacial lakes, and towering mountains that define the region.

Read on to learn three reasons why you should consider planning your Passage to the Peaks journey.

1. It’s available for a limited time only

Passage to the Peaks is available exclusively on select dates next year, coinciding with the FIFA World Cup taking place in Vancouver in June and July 2026. We are thrilled to introduce this special, limited-time itinerary, offering guests who are seeking a quieter experience to maximize their time in the mountains and in Canada’s most stunning national parks.

Since this is a limited-time route, 2026 will be the only year to experience it. The only other way to connect to both Banff and Jasper is by combining two of our rail routes into a Circle Journey.

2. Explore up to three unforgettable destinations

See even more of Canada’s favourite mountain towns. While most Rocky Mountaineer journeys offer routes to either Banff or Jasper, this route features both destinations – with select packages offering overnight stays in Lake Louise.

This makes it one of our most convenient ways to experience the highlights of the Rockies in one train journey, giving you more time to make unforgettable memories in some of the world’s most spectacular locations. You can also select packages that connect to the closest major international airports, Calgary and Edmonton.

3. All mountains, all the time

Stay entirely within the breathtaking mountain ranges of British Columbia and Alberta. Depending on which package and direction you choose, your journey will start in either Banff National Park or Jasper National Park – two of the most renowned wilderness areas in Western Canada. From here, you’ll journey below snow-capped mountain peaks, alongside turquoise lakes, and gaze upon icy glaciers shaped by millennia.

Mid-journey, you’ll stay overnight in our midpoint destination of Kamloops, situated in the Interior Plateau of British Columbia. Here, you won’t find mountains as impressive as the 2,949-metre-tall Mount Rundle in Banff – but the rolling hills and vast lakes of the region offer a refreshing counter to the rugged peaks of the Rockies.
