Just as the Rocky Mountains stretch beyond borders, Rocky Mountaineer has brought its signature rail experience to new landscapes. In 2021, we introduced our Rockies to the Red Rocks route connecting Moab, Utah, and Denver, Colorado.
Designed to showcase the most breathtaking landscapes and national parks of the American Southwest, this route quickly became a guest favourite, offering a seamless blend of scenic beauty and curated onboard experiences.
Canyon Spirit will carry this legacy forward starting in 2026, building on the values and expertise of Rocky Mountaineer to offer an inviting, elevated, and enriching rail experience through the wild vistas of the American Southwest.
Rockies to the Red Rocks Continues, with a New Exciting Route Option
If a Rockies to the Red Rocks rail journey is on your travel list, rest assured – this iconic experience isn’t going anywhere. Rocky Mountaineer will continue to offer Rockies to the Red Rocks packages through 2025.
Starting in 2026, Canyon Spirit will adopt this classic favourite while also introducing an all-new route option to Salt Lake City. These unforgettable rail experiences will carry forward the same world-class service, while enhancing existing routes and expanding ways for guests to explore the American Southwest in comfort and style.
Canyon Spirit will operate from April to November, with each season offering its own unique highlights. Each route can be taken in either direction, allowing guests to tailor their journey – whether starting in Denver, Moab, or Salt Lake City.

Rockies to the Red Rocks Two-Day Rail Journey Option
DENVER - GLENWOOD SPRINGS - MOAB
A scenic two-day rail journey connecting Denver to Moab, with an overnight stay in Glenwood Springs, known for its charming downtown and famous hot springs.
Travel through awe-inspiring landscapes, from dramatic river gorges to vast desert plateaus, all while relaxing in the comfort of Canyon Spirit’s glass-dome coaches and onboard hospitality.
Extend your stay in Moab to explore Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, or take your exploration beyond the pavement with a Jeep rental from Canyonlands Jeep and Car Rentals for a thrilling self-guided tour of Utah’s legendary Mighty 5 National Parks.
